On 22 November, our Fostering team welcomed Reading foster carers, local councillors, foster panel members, BFfC colleagues and Reading Mayor to this year’s Foster Carers’ Dinner and Awards celebration evening.
The event took place at the plush Pentahotel in Reading and was our way to extend a huge thank you to all our foster carers and to shine a light on their incredible dedication, support and hard work they put in year round. We’re very proud of all our foster carers who are extraordinary people.
Lara Patel, Executive Director of Children’s Services in Reading opened the evening with a warm and welcoming speech. Lara then handed over to Reading Mayor, Councillor Glenn Dennis, to present the awards. Awards included recognition of training completion alongside applaud for length of service being a foster carer.
This year’s longest milestone went to Judith and Bryan Swindle and also Sandy Bowcock and Patrick Stonehewer, all for 20 years of being foster carers in Reading. Incredible!
During the second part of the evening Councillor Wendy Griffith presented the Outstanding Awards, the BFfC Chair awards, and also introduced the raffle which featured some wonderful prizes including gifts generously donated by local businesses.
Throughout the evening, guests were entertained by local singer Lily Beck.
We’d like to send another thank you out to all those who attended and to those involved with organising this wonderful event.
