The idea of your first night of fostering can be a daunting thought. But it’s completely normal to be worried and we hope these stories from our foster carers’ first nights give you a little insight into what to expect.
Remember, by the time you get to your first night of fostering, you will have been through our assessment process and you will have been approved by a team of professionals who definitely believe that you are up to the job! You will have had all the training you need to make sure you have the skills you need for looking after a child. You will have been assigned a supervising social worker, who is there to support you, as a foster carer. Plus, we’re on the other end of the phone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You’ll have a buddy, another foster carer, who can guide you through and a big, supportive community of foster carers in the Reading Carers’ Link.
If you’re thinking of fostering, we’ve got your back.
