Foster Care Fortnight is now under way
Our Fostering team and two of our foster carers have been out into the sunshine to gather support from the public.
The annual two-week celebration of foster carers started on Monday 15 May, and we’ve been working hard to spread the word. On Tuesday 16 May, the team were in Town Hall Square where our ‘Rooted in Reading’ tree proudly stands. Ethical reading who originally donated the tree came along to join and support. They also spruced up the tree plaque ready for the event!
Passers-by were invited to write pledges of support to help us find more local foster carers and the messages were tied to the beautiful ornamental cherry tree, which signifies the importance of our children in care feeling rooted in Reading. See a few snaps below, or check out our Facebook and Twitter posts to read some of the messages left on the tree.
On Thursday we’re going to be dedicating a wildflower garden to say thank you to our foster carers, so will tell you all about that later this week.
Keep an eye out for members of our fostering team out in Reading over the next two weeks and help us spread the word!
