It’s been three years already!
Friday 17 February marks the third anniversary of our Rooted in Reading tree, planted in association with Reading Borough Council (RBC) and Reading Tree Wardens, funded by Reading residents through crowdfunding supported by Ethical Reading.
The double-bloom ornamental cherry tree – a Prunus avium ‘Plena’ – was planted outside the town hall in a special ceremony on Monday 17 February 2020.
The private event was attended by members of the various organisations involved and, most importantly, by children and young people in care.
The tree is a powerful symbol of hope and belonging for children and young people who are in care outside of Reading.
We’re looking for more local foster carers to keep local children rooted in Reading, in loving hearts and homes.
