Meet us at Town Hall Square

Thinking of fostering? Foster Care Fortnight is the perfect time to make your enquiry!

Our friendly team will be holding an information stand on Tuesday 16 May from 10am to 2pm at Reading's Town Hall Square. We'll be located right next to the #RootedInReading tree - a powerful symbol of hope and belonging for children and young people who are in care outside of Reading.

The event will provide the opportunity to find out more about fostering and speak to our experienced foster carers about what it's like.

You'll also have the chance to write a message of commitment to help us find more foster carers locally, and hang it on our tree.

Join us at Forbury Fiesta

May brings a fantastic line up of events to celebrate Foster Care Fortnight - an annual campaign to raise the profile of fostering.

The celebrations get off to an action-packed start with Forbury Fiesta on Saturday 6 May in the heart of Forbury Gardens.

Come along to our information stand to meet our friendly team and find out more about fostering and the application process.

The event is a great opportunity to speak to our experienced foster carers about their journey and experience, and ask any questions you may have.

We look forward to seeing you anytime from 12 to 5pm! We'll have plenty of activities on hand - come and say hello!

Give the gift of home this Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner!

We've launching a festive campaign to encourage Reading residents to consider giving the gift of home to a vulnerable child or a young person.

The 12 Days of Christmas campaign highlights the fact that individuals or families could be fostering a child and giving them a stable, safe and loving home next Christmas if they enquire now.

Starting on Tuesday 13 December and running until Christmas Eve, the campaign will be focusing on a different aspect of fostering each day.

From the attributes you need and the benefits of having a foster child in your life to busting some fostering myths - our social media channels - Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, will reveal what it takes to become a foster carer.

Commenting on the campaign, Di Smith, Board Chair of BFfC, said: “Christmas is a time for giving and I cannot think of many better gifts than providing a vulnerable child or young person with a safe, loving home.

“Friends and family are particularly in our thoughts at this time of year but sadly there are children who will not be experiencing the magic and joy of Christmas they deserve.

“We need more foster carers in Reading to ensure vulnerable Reading children can stay close to their families and friends. If you enquire about fostering with us now, you could be giving a child or young person their best ever Christmas next year.”
